Sellers insight:
“It was the position of the property set back from the road and the neighbouring properties that first attracted us to Woodlands,” say the current owners of this North Somerset home. “The first time we drove up the long driveway and saw its grounds, we were hooked. With the magnificent trees, the shrubs, the lawns, it almost felt like a parkland setting.”
During their time at Woodlands, the owners have made numerous improvements to the property. “Inside, we have extended and refitted the kitchen with ‘Wren’ cabinetry,” they say, “as well as transforming the family bathroom and creating new en suites for two of the bedrooms. Outside, besides necessary maintenance work, we have installed Solar Electric and Water panels on the large south facing roof. Our biggest project, however, has been relandscaping the gardens: we have planted trees; created a large pond which is now teeming with wildlife; redeveloped and planted the borders; established a productive vegetable plot; installed a large 'Hartley Botanical' greenhouse; and replaced existing tumbledown sheds with new architect designed garages and workshop.”
Now, this is the ideal home for everyday life and entertaining alike: “We have hosted many gatherings for family and friends over the years, and currently enjoy having four generations of the family living with us. Christmas is a special time and makes the best use of the wonderful kitchen – the heart of the home! - and the reception rooms. In the summer, the kitchen and conservatory are both wonderful rooms from which to enjoy the woodpeckers, nuthatches, bullfinches and all the other birds and wildlife which visit the garden. Most of all, we will remember the outside events, from garden parties and barbecues on the attractive paved patio, to games on the lawns, with sunny and shady spots to relax in according to preference. We have had so many good times here and made memories aplenty to take with us.”
The local area has much to offer, too. “There are highly regarded Junior and Secondary schools in the village,” the owners say, “as well as local shops, a post office, hairdressers, and excellent doctors' and dentists’ surgeries. The larger town of Nailsea is only 3 miles away for Waitrose, Tesco and much more besides. Buses run frequently through the village and the mainline rail station to and from the South West, Bristol, Bath, London is only 2 miles away. There is a great sense of community in the village, and we shall miss our neighbours dearly. Most of all, we love the woods and walks all around Woodlands, as well as having such easy access to the wonderful city of Bristol.”
