Bridgerton-Inspired Homes and Design Tips

Bridgerton-Inspired Homes and Design Tips

Netflix’s steamy Regency period drama, Bridgerton, one of the biggest shows of 2021, returns on 25 March 2022 to thrill its viewers once again with royal romances, dashing Dukes and beautiful period properties. On our quest to instil the Regency and Georgian eras into our lives, Fine & Country Property Staging share their top Bridgerton-inspired home design tips with a contemporary twist, as well as quintessential homes on the market that would fit perfectly in the series.

Wisteria

The first Bridgerton family home seen in the Netflix series is an elegant Georgian property, which currently serves as an art museum in Greenwich, London, called Ranger’s House. Wisteria and Ivy were added to the exterior of the residence to make the property feel more enchanting.

St Brelade, Jersey, 8 bedrooms

8 Bedroom Detached House For Sale in St Brelade Jersey fine and country

Regarded as one of Jersey's finest homes, this magnificent and distinctive period granite residence is located in a much sought-after part of the island. Delightful wisteria drapes over the rear of the building's façade, overlooking one of the island's most spectacular private gardens.

Boreham, Essex, 8 bedrooms

The Old Vicarage grand period house with wisteria

This Grade II Georgian house and cottage, known as The Old Vicarage and the Old Vicarage Cottage, have been sympathetically restored to the period of the property and now provides the perfect balance of period charm and modern conveniences for a fantastic family home. Evergreen climbers cling to the frontage of this home, seamlessly blending with the beautiful gardens.

A statement staircase

Welcoming you into the home, a statement staircase can bring a sense of grandeur. Plenty of important entrances and exchanges take place in the family’s entrance hall, the staircase adding extravagance to the start of any encounter.

This functional feature of your home is an opportunity to take your home design to new heights and 'wow' your guests from the moment they enter your home.

Ealing, London, 7 bedrooms

Grand period homes are not the only properties permitted to make such an impactful entrance. For a more contemporary twist, modern winding sculptures, floating marble steps adorned with ornate metal railings and bespoke balustrades can be installed to create your own lavish entryway.

Symmetry

A key feature of Georgian architecture and interior design is symmetry. Mirroring elements such as furniture, fixtures and use of colours on both sides of a space creates balance and harmony. A symmetrical space can look fashionable and make a statement when done correctly. Be careful to not create two identical halves to avoid creating a space that is boring.

Tip: Use similar sized furniture pieces, artwork and ornaments to balance each side of a room.

Adorn with details

Brass architectural ironmongery is typical of the Regency era to create beautiful furnishings, taps, light fittings and door handles, complimented by gold-painted picture frames hanging on the walls, glass chandeliers and elegant marble tabletops.

For a modern take on this classic style, adopt a more muted colour palette combined with glass ornaments, elaborate chandeliers, grand mirrors, marble-effect surfaces and ornate ironmongery in black or other darker shades. The buildings and décor of the Regency era was inspired by Egyptian, Gothic, classical Greek and Roman, and Indian styles. Consider introducing classic artwork from these regions. Go even bigger with fitted columns and statues.
