As the warmer weather approaches, we look to update our home to make the most of the summer season. Fine & Country Property Staging reveal their top tips for indoor-outdoor rooms.
Your sunflowers are growing tall, your lavender is scenting the whole garden and your summer barbecues are on the cards. This season, it is all about streamlining your space, bringing the outside in, and vice versa.
Bifold doors have become a must-have in properties, from cottages to luxury homes. They are a fantastic way to let natural light flood in and give the illusion of much more space. Whether they are in your living room, dining room or open-plan kitchen, these gateways to natural sunlight are not only a statement piece, but they also transform a room and add personality.
Think about extending the flooring outside in the same materials that you have inside, to create a continuation when the bifold doors are open. This way it will feel like a natural extension to the house. Adding an outdoor rug, which has become more and more popular this season, matched with Scandinavian furniture will incorporate this space into your home as if it were simply another reception room.
Instagram has become inundated with people moving their indoor furniture outdoors replicating their cosy living room aesthetic outside in the sunshine instead, whilst also expanding their living space. After all, when the sun is shining, your garden or terrace is a much more inviting space.
When it starts to get chilly, consider using outdoor floor lamps. They now come in stylish options with heaters and even speakers all in one. As well as a selection of chunky blankets and throws to keep you and your guests warm, external fireplaces, more commonly known as firepits, are a big trend and focal point when embracing the inside-out styling trend and are going to keep you cosy on those evenings with a light breeze.
Really consider your furniture. Many brands are now creating pieces that work equally well both inside and out. Using dark tones of lush green is a popular choice this year, which complements a lot of furniture and embraces the natural tones of your garden. If you don’t have the budget for a brand-new suite, accessorising with throws, cushions and accessories will add pops of colour and achieve a chic aesthetic.
