A luxury home deserves equally stunning interiors. Fine & Country Interior Design find out how one of their design firms turned this country seat into a glowing home. 

With palatial dimensions, an interiors budget reaching into the millions and every other desirable feature you can imagine, this award-winning, sprawling home was designed to be the perfect country retreat for an international buyer. Behind the design was Fine & Country Interior Design firm CID Interieur, for Developers Aspire Luxury Properties. CID Interieur is a London based design firm with a specialist foothold in the luxury residential property market. 

Defining the brief

Extending to over 12,500 square foot in size, the design requirements of the house included a gym, pool and spa complex, accommodation for multiple staff, his and hers dressing rooms, a secret whiskey room, and a cinema. 

It was certainly set to be a true labour of love for CID Interieur from the moment they stepped foot on site. The property was built from the ground up, which meant that CID needed to be involved from inception to ensure it met the level of quality required. 

The aim of the design was to inspire international property purchasers with a classic English style of architecture, resembling country homes of a bygone era with a modern twist. The interior brief aimed to provide every possible luxury finish available to a modern audience, coupled with fresh, contemporary and polished design: CID Interieur’s signature style.

Working with the space

With a design aimed to ‘wow’ anyone visiting the home, it was vital that the entrance hall left a lasting impression. 

“We began by designing a sweeping curved staircase and accentuated this with the circular shape of the hallway and the round design of the marble floor. The floor is bespoke, and we inlaid antique bronze inserts to outline the shapes. We really enjoy collaborating with our suppliers to design motifs which are unique,” says David Ferns, CEO. 

The volume of reception rooms across the ground floor of the property meant that CID could enjoy incorporating fun design ideas, such as the secret door from the study leading into a hidden whiskey room. It is a feature that may not make it past the starting block in the design of a smaller property. 

“The idea of a secret and cleverly concealed bar has always been a concept we’ve wanted to explore. It’s not one we have managed to add into a home before, mainly due to space constrictions, so we loved the opportunity to flex our design ideas with this one,” says David.

Design features

Designing a home aimed at the elite end of the market meant that no shortcuts could be taken. All the rooms throughout were paneled, the ceilings expertly coffered to conceal lighting, the walls decked out with state of the art wallpapers in the main rooms, pure marble in the bathrooms, and fabric and upholstered coverings in the bedrooms. 

“In the dining room, we built-in joinery inlaid with an antique mirror to give a nostalgic feel to the space. We also built bespoke wardrobes in the his and hers dressing rooms, each with their own style of veneer finish inserted with leather,” says David. “We really wanted any homeowner to feel as though every possible convenience had been thought of, which I feel we achieved.”
