Tips to keep children entertained at home
With most families self-isolating with children in the house, we understand it can seem rather chaotic at times. Here are some activities to keep your children preoccupied while you are working from home:
Arts and crafts
While everyone is stuck indoors, it's healthy to keep the family occupied and a creative activity is a great way to do this. Here are some of our suggestions:
If your children enjoy colouring in, you can download our Fine & Country puzzle book that you can print and encourage them to get creative with colour.
If they prefer painting, why not browse children's paint kits online? Shops such as Hobbycraft allow you to order their arts supplies online, so they can be delivered to your home.
Technology
Are you an iPhone or Android user? Did you know that if you search on Google for a type of animal and then click 'View in 3D' on the Wikipedia section of the search result, it brings up your camera and then 30 seconds later you have a tiger in your house?
You can take a photo of the children with them and they can walk around it. This is bound to keep the little ones entertained as there are so many options such as a lion, bear, shark, penguin, horse, octopus, dog and many more. Letting your child play virtually with their favourite animal will be sure to keep the boredom at bay.
Get musical
Myleene's Music Klass is a fantastic resource whether your children are musically gifted, or simply fancy a bit of fun. Former singer and classically trained musician, Myleene Klass posts videos on her YouTube channel where she offers online music lessons.
Stay active
Exercise is a great way for the children to let off some steam and exert some energy in the garden.
Every morning at nine o'clock, social media influencer and personal trainer, Joe Wicks is offering an at home workout session specifically aimed at children. These sessions are live on his YouTube channel, so you can simply tune in and let the little ones join in, helping them stay active and maintain a positive attitude for the day ahead.
Every Tuesday and Thursday, at six o'clock in the evening, football coach, Robert Francis is offering stay at home football coaching on Facebook and YouTube. This is perfect if your children normally take part in weekly after school football clubs or enjoy going to the park and playing football of a weekend. If you live in the city and don't have a garden, these sessions can also be followed indoors with a smaller ball.

Visit Classroom Secrets Kids for a vast amount of resources for children of most ages that are both practical and fun.
Teacher's Pet
This is a great website for parents to create a free account and download home and remote learning packs according to key stage. There is an EYFS pack, KS1 pack (Year 1 and Year 2), LKS2 pack (Year 3 and 4) and UKS2 pack (Year 5 and 6).
Oxford Owl
if your children enjoy reading, there are lots of books they can access and read online through Oxford Owl as well as other fun games and subjects.

Carol Vorderman runs a website called The Maths Factor for 4-11 year olds, with lots of videos, games and quizzes to practise online.
English
Discover The World of David Walliams, a website with lots of activities inspired by his books. Download the activity sheets and you will have the whole afternoon filled with fun learning.
History
History Hit TV is a great resource for access to an abundance of history documentaries, interviews, films and podcasts. Plus, you can sign up and get the first 30 days for free.
Science
If you fancy come science with Professor Brian Cox, Robin Ince and guests, then it is worth signing up for The Cosmic Shambles Network for carefully curated podcasts and digital content, perfect for curious children to learn about our universe. You can see the upcoming schedule, as well as watch past shows, too.
Get cooking
Getting the children involved making food at lunchtime is not only rewarding for them, but it will give you one less thing to worry about. Check out Jamie Oliver's YouTube channel where he shares regular videos with simple recipes tailored for the whole family to get involved.
Alternatively, Chef Theo Michaels hosts daily live cook along sessions on his Instagram every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 4 o'clock.
