There is no doubt that 2021 was another tumultuous year for much of the world’s economy, and many international charities had to adapt in order to continue to raise funds during a challenging 12 months. The Fine & Country Foundation is committed to supporting homeless charities globally, and in our fight to end poverty many of our agents rose to the challenge of raising a phenomenal £140,000. The Foundation awarded £123,000 to charities via two grant schemes and other programmes towards the cause over the year - making 2021 the second highest year on record for donations.

Of this almighty figure, £92,000 came from agent contributions - meaning that for every completion, our Fine & Country agents generously donated a proportion of their fee to The Foundation. £20,000 was raised through events run and organised by Head Office, including the Foundation Field Day, which saw over 100 guests descend on Stanford Hall in Northampton in September of last year to enjoy a day of garden games, charity ‘pieing’, networking and, to finish the evening off, entertainment in the form of a talented band. A further £21,000 has been contributed by Fine & Country UK through a percentage from referral fees and marketing pack sales.

£7,000 was donated through our agents running their own fundraising events – selflessly organising and managing the affair from beginning to end and awarding the proceeds to The Foundation. We are tremendously grateful for the efforts of every single one of them for putting on events and gaining sponsorship. Here are just a few examples from the past year;

Pembrokeshire Coastal Path Walk - Dan Thomas

With each easing of restrictions came new opportunities to fundraise. Following the announcement on March 12th that people could travel locally for exercise in Wales, Dan Thomas wasted no time in getting his fundraiser underway.

Dan set his sights on walking the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path in the midst of lockdown, motivated by other members of the network as well as for his own personal health. 

Dan’s efforts were to raise funds for The Wallich, a homelessness charity which works across Wales. The Wallich has three core objectives; to get people off the streets, keep them off the streets and create opportunities such as employment, volunteering and education. 

Tough Mudder – Fine & Country Northern Lincolnshire

Armed with branded t-shirts and a lot of excitement, on Sunday 15 August, the Fine & Country Northern Lincolnshire team, plus their colleagues, family and friends, took to the start line of the Tough Mudder. 

Graham Foulger, Sales Director of Fine & Country Northern Lincolnshire said: "We had a fantastic time raising money for our Foundation at Tough Mudder. Amazing teamwork to overcome all of those challenges and now we've decided to up the ante for next year and go for the 10K with double the fundraising goal!"

The Foundation Golf Day, Warwickshire

Organised by Jon Handford and his colleagues from the midlands area, the event was attended by Fine & Country agents as well as members of Head Office. It was a day of good competitive sporting fun, as well as a chance to network, land trophies and raise some incredible funds for The Foundation.

The 100km Challenge - Sanjay Gandhi

After walking 500km during the winter of 2020 in aid of The Foundation, Sanjay Gandhi and members of the Fine & Country York team took on a further 100km in November 2021. They walked, ran and cycled to raise some really invaluable funds.

As a charitable organisation, The Fine & Country Foundation has no overheads, therefore over 99.9% of all the funds raised by our hard-working agents, committed staff and benevolent customers go to our cause and directly support other charities across to globe to help those living in poverty.

This money can, and does, act as a lifeline for many homeless charities around the world, we have seen first-hand the valuable support that The Foundation offers to people in poverty. I am thoroughly looking forward to seeing the impact we can make in 2022, through continued endorsements from our charitable supporters.”

The Foundation will be opening applications for its Spring Grant Programme again in 2022. With the last round of grants seeing over £45,000 donated, this is a fantastic opportunity for charities, both in the UK and overseas, to apply to receive grants of up to £3,000 to aid projects in the fight against homelessness and poverty.
