In a remarkable display of determination and compassion, partner at Fine & Country Chiswick, Harry Middleton embarked on a challenging mission to swim across the English Channel on Sunday 18th June, aiming to raise substantial funds for two charitable organisations close to his heart: Make-A-Wish and the Fine & Country Foundation.

An avid endurance athlete with a history in competitive swimming, Middleton completed the dangerous solo crossing whilst being followed by a boat and spurred on by his training partner and coach Brad Harvey, along with his dad Stewart Middleton, who is yet to miss a swimming event in support of his son.

“During lockdown I started swimming in the lakes prior to pools reopening and fell in love with the sport and knew I wanted to take on one of the hardest swimming challenges in the world. I have competed at a national level achieving several national medals; however, this will definitely be my most challenging fete in my swimming career. Everyone knows the English Channel and it is deemed as one of the busiest straits in the world, but once completed I would be one of a small number of people who have finished the swim. More people have climbed Mount Everest than swam the channel,” says Middleton.

The English Channel is known for its treacherous waters and unpredictable conditions and presents an arduous test for even the most experienced swimmers.
