In 2017 more than 39 million tourists visited the UK for our stunning countryside, moors, lakes and misty mountains (Source: Visit Britain). Fine & Country Derbyshire will experience the full delights of the British landscape in their 25 mile trek across the Peak District, on Sunday 14th October for homelessness. 

The team, led by Lee Armstrong, Associate from Fine & Country Derbyshire, will walk for approximately 12 hours, starting and finishing in Edale. They will have six checkpoints:

1. Mam Tor
2. Kinder Reservoir
3. Kinder Scout Charged Rock
4. Kinder Scout
5. Pennine Way
6. Edale

Why have you chosen the Peak District?
We are so blessed to have this National Park on our doorsteps so it makes perfect sense for us to take on this route. We are looking forward to seeing more of our fabulous countryside on the day. 

Have you done a challenge like this before?
No, this will definitely be the longest trek I have done, but I’m really excited to push myself to complete this walk. This one exhausting and tough day will have a huge impact on the lives of so many other people living through homelessness. How is the training going?
So far so good! I have completed a 14 mile training walk across central Derbyshire, but I think need to focus on the climbs. I have been up Kinder Scout once before and I remember the terrain was challenging. On its own this climb is tiring, but with an extra 20 miles added on the hike, it’s going to be knackering!

Why have you chosen to support The Fine & Country Foundation and homelessness?
The Foundation is such a great cause. At Fine & Country we are so privileged to help people buy and sell fabulous homes. For many people, however, the situation is very different. Across Derby we see homelessness on a daily basis which has given us all a driving force to do more for the community. I have seen many of my colleagues do amazing events for The Foundation: from climbing to Everest Base Camp, to cycling across Britain. Now it’s Fine & Country Derbyshire’s turn.

Are you planning anything for the future?
Yes, this is the pre cursor to the main event. Next year the plan will be to take on the big one – The National 3 peaks within 24 hours. We would love a big group for this, so if anyone is interested in taking part, please contact foundation@fineandcountry.com.

How are you feeling?
Feeling both nervous and excited about the hike. While for many this may seem like a small scale event, but for our team this is huge. October will be cold, windy and wet. Nonetheless, we are a determined bunch and we can face whatever happens together. We are getting into the team spirit and looking forward to the challenge. On the day I think the excitement will be immense and we will need to stay positive and focused across the 12 hours.
