Fine & Country is hosting its annual Christmas Carol Concert on Monday 4th December in Cambridge. As always, the event is free to attend, but spaces are sought after so we ask that you RSVP by Monday 27th November to cambridgecarols@fineandcountry.com.  

The Fairhaven Singers will perform at the carol concert this year. Last year they gave a stunning performance which filled the chapel with warmth and Christmas spirit. The event will be held in the Queens College Chapel, a stunning and historic building in the heart of Cambridge. Please see the full address below:

Mince pies and mulled wine will be served from 7pm and the choir will start the Carol Concert at 7.30pm. 

Donations are invited and will be shared between three homeless charities in Cambridge; Jimmy’s, Wintercomfort and Emmaus Cambridge. 

Jimmy’s Cambridge will use the donations to purchase goods for homeless people who are moving on from their Assessment Centre. The Assessment Centre provides short-term emergency accommodation for men and women who might otherwise be homeless. Within the centre, their users are reconnected back with work and helped to find a more suitable long-term place to stay. Donations raised will help to buy kitchen equipment, bedding, furniture and white goods, including washing machines and fridge freezers.

Barry Griffiths, Communications and Communities Officer at Jimmy’s Cambridge said, “It really is a great help knowing that your support allows us to provide these items when they move out of Jimmy's and into their own place; it makes it more than just four walls.”

Wintercomfort provides vital welfare services, learning and development; volunteering, and employment opportunities for homeless and vulnerably housed people in Cambridgeshire. The centre is open seven days a week and offers breakfast, showers and laundry facilities as well as providing a wide programme of activities, information, advice and support. Alongside their basic welfare services, they run several social enterprises creating employment and training opportunities for individuals affected by homelessness issues, including the Pathways project.

Emmaus Cambridge currently supports 34 formally homeless people (called Companions). Companions who join this community commit to working on social enterprises, including reselling furniture and donated items or working in Joan's coffee shop. As a result, many have passed their Level 2 Award in Food Safety. Emmaus helps its Companions to overcome one of the biggest obstacles, a loss of confidence and self-esteem. The next step for Emmaus is to acquire an additional 10 companion rooms to support a total of 44 people by the end of 2018.
