This magnificent cottage is steeped in history, dating back to the 1700s when it was originally a working forge. The property had many other uses before being converted into a residential dwelling in the 1960s. Perfectly situated for access to the cathedral city of Chichester on the periphery of open countryside in the South Downs National Park, this pretty cottage is one not to be missed.
The cottage has been sympathetically and lovingly restored with contemporary fitments whilst exuding charm and character. Improvements include underfloor heating, new windows and doors, modern insulation, a complete rewire, a new oil tank boiler and plumbing system. Upon entering the sitting room, one is immediately drawn to the spectacular vaulted ceiling showcasing original beams. A prominent inglenook-style fireplace complete with a newly installed wood burner makes it a perfect place to relax in the evenings. From here there is access to the beautifully landscaped garden.
The vaulted ceiling continues to the kitchen which has been renovated and cleverly designed with plenty of storage and working space and an island complete with breakfast bar.
There are two generous bedrooms on the ground floor. The principal bedroom has the added benefit of an ensuite, whilst the other has built-in wardrobes and access to a beautifully appointed bathroom. On the first floor, there is a further good size third bedroom or a useful study.
Outside, the property is graced with a landscaped garden housing beautiful shrubs and plants to maximise privacy. There is a sun terrace perfect for summer entertaining.
To the front, there is a shingled driveway providing parking for two vehicles and access to a shed, log store, oil tank and boiler.
It is all about location, location, location; if you are looking for a tranquil setting with city living, entertainment, award-winning sandy beaches and country pursuits within easy reach then look no further.
