Maria, as the surname would suggest, is Matthew’s wife, his better half! Having worked for a footwear company for 22 years it made sense to join Fine & Country in 2016 as the office has now really become a family business. Maria makes sure the office runs smoothly and keeps Matthew and John in check! Her varied duties involve speaking with customers and recommending suitable properties, administration, and bookkeeping. Her favourite task is sending invoices out to solicitors, as that means Fine & Country have made another two clients happy with the next chapter of their lives about to begin. Maria has a flair for lettings, too, so if you’d like to find a lettings property or would like to let a property she is here to help.
Matthew first became an agent in 1999, having worked in the diamond industry for 7 years and spending a couple of years travelling, mainly across Africa. Matthew’s agency career has solely been in south Hertfordshire where he was born and grew up, an area he obviously loves. Over the course of many years, Matthew has seen and experienced the many different sides of the property market; both good and the not so good and it is these encounters that have shaped Matthew to become a respected and knowledgeable agent. He became a partner of the business in 2013 and in 2018 bought out his business partner to become sole owner. From that 1st day, back in 1999, Matthew’s main objective has been customer care and satisfaction and that remains as strong as ever today with thousands of people happily moved with his help.
John grew up in Potters Bar and has remained local ever since, which is a considerable number of years! Sport is his passion; he was once a squash professional at Potter Bar Squash Club and spent many years selling sportswear and equipment to the likes of Mike Ashley. John brought his sales experience to Fine & Country in 2010 and remains an integral part of the office’s success due to his interpersonal skills and ability to be truthful, upfront, and honest. His knowledge of the local area is profound and that is backed up by many historical tales of time’s gone by. Not your ‘typical’ estate agent, John is happiest making things happen and thrives on the buzz of agreeing that next sale.
