4 Bedroom Detached House For Sale in Stone Lane, Little Humby, Grantham, Lincolnshire, NG33

2 4 2
In a quiet hamlet about 6 miles from Grantham, a converted stone barn is set over two storeys with two bedrooms downstairs and two upstairs and includes a dramatic, cathedral-like reception area filled with light, where a gallery features exposed roof timbers in the vaulted ceilings. Outside, an open-fronted barn with storeroom and workshop offers many uses. Two excellent primary schools are very nearby and trains from Grantham to London Kings Cross take around an hour so whether working from home or commuting, this is an idyllic home for country living.

“The barn has been a fantastic place to live. Originally stabling, a haybarn and adjoining dairy serving Red House Farm over the road, it was converted in 2000 and has only had one owner since. The original entrance was through the big, glazed arch into the barn with the hay loft above and the smaller, adjacent arch – now a kitchen window – was thought to have led into stables. All the single storey section was the dairy, and the utility and cloakroom on the other end was a new addition.”

“The property has been installed with carefully chosen fittings, for instance, all the internal doors are dipped and stripped, panelled Victorian pine from a rectory in Derbyshire. So too the décor: the ground floor wallpaper is Osborne & Little’s ‘Benvarden’, the same as in the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Kensington Palace and the Nina Campbell curtains in the master bedroom upstairs are also in The Savoy Hotel in London! Farrow & Ball paint has been used in many areas such as Ballroom Blue on the panelling in the bathroom, whilst the traditional style roll-top bath has a brand new set of mixer taps”

“If the spiral staircase wasn’t to someone’s taste, there is plenty of room to install a traditional timber one. The area downstairs is particularly lovely by the arched picture window – it’s a prime spot to sit and relax bathed in sunshine, and at Christmas the full height lends itself to having an enormous tree that reaches up to the vaulted ceiling – you can decorate the top half from the mezzanine level!”

“The large open-fronted barn or cart shed has been used for wonderful outdoor parties but it could be for parking or as a games area, or even be converted to an annex, subject to planning. The pergola has a grapevine over it which produces masses of grapes; there is wiring for a hot tub here.”

“The gravel drive is so large that at least half of it could easily be altered to become more of a garden – it is such a sun trap at the front being south facing. The grassy rear garden has a pretty plum tree and trellis encloses the Klargester septic tank.”

“It’s quite a multi-purpose home having been a part-time family home, great for commuting as well as working from home. It’s very light and airy up in the mezzanine area which has been perfect as an office space although there is a little room downstairs that could be a study too. The property is very quiet, well-lit with natural light yet very cosy – the log-burner really belts out the heat – and is a great place for a party.”

“There are some lovely walks from the doorstep; there’s a ford just down the road crossing the little river. Although very quiet and peaceful it is still quite a community with residents really caring for their environment and ensuring it is beautifully kept.”
