Nottingham has an active cultural and social scene. The compact city boasts pedestrianised streets and an excellent public transport system which means it is easy to get around. The city is abuzz with smart cafes, bars and restaurants and offers a good blend of upmarket and independent retailers alongside high-quality high-street names, as well as contrasting styles of medieval streetscape and Victorian industrial architecture.

The Nottingham Playhouse, Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall play host to a diverse programme of drama, dance and live music between them, and Nottingham Contemporary is a major centre of contemporary arts which is free for all to visit. Nottingham Arena hosts a constant line-up of live music and shows to a capacity audience of around 10,000 whilst independent cinemas such as The Broadway cater for smaller and less mainstream audiences. The county is of course also a major sporting centre, with two football clubs and a test cricket ground, Trent Bridge, all nestled along the River Trent.

A stone’s throw from the city, you will find yourself in cosmopolitan suburbs such as West Bridgford, where we base our office, which in turn lead directly out into Nottinghamshire’s glorious countryside. Within a few short miles of Nottingham itself you can admire hidden spots of scenic beauty, search out local tastes – the bramley apple and stilton cheese for example, and spot inspiring English wildlife. The county is host to many beautiful villages and several market towns and scattered in between these are numerous country parks, picturesque nature reserves and architectural gems as well as many legendary associations with Robin Hood.

Schooling

We are fortunate that Nottinghamshire provides many outstanding and coveted state schools, many notably located in the borough of Ruschcliffe but with plenty more scattered throughout the county.  Further to this, the city centre houses a number of well viewed & well used independent day schools such as the Nottingham High School for Boys and Nottingham Girl’s High School. Independent day and boarding options are provided by Trent College and Ratcliffe College which sits nearby in bordering Leicestershire.

Transport

The proximity of major motorways and connecting A roads means that Nottinghamshire is easily accessible by car. Nottingham is of course centrally located and well placed for access to the North and South with the M1 providing direct access down to London and up to Leeds.

Trains from Nottingham station reach London St Pancras in around one hour 45 minutes. With nearby Grantham and Newark stations reaching Kings Cross in around an hour. There is also an extensive rail network with journey’s from as far north as Aberdeen in Scotland and as far south as Penzance in Cornwall with trains all connecting to Nottingham.

Nottingham East Midlands Airport provides the region’s aviation facilities.

The city also has its own tram network which is currently being expanded.
